Does Specialty Soils use dyes?
No. Bark and mulch colors are achieved naturally.
How deep should bark mulch be?
Approximately 3 inches is a useful target for many tree and shrub beds, but measure what already exists and calculate only the additional depth. Then calculate how much mulch the bed needs.
Should I add a full new layer every year?
No. Measure existing depth first. Top up the missing amount rather than automatically adding another full layer.
Can I pile mulch against a tree trunk?
Keep mulch away from trunks and root flares. Do not continually pile material against woody stems.
