Use a growing medium designed for containers. Ordinary garden soil is not a generic potting medium.
Containers change the root environment
Container height, drainage openings, crop, irrigation, exposure, and production duration influence how much air and water remain after irrigation.
Choose by behavior
A large planter does not automatically need a heavy ground soil. It needs a medium with the physical behavior, weight, and management fit required by the planting system.
For professional or long-duration systems
Use the professional selector or request review rather than collapsing every container into “premium potting soil.”
Apply the science to a real growing system
Container dimensions, crop, irrigation and duration should lead the material decision.
